OUR LAST NIGHT EUROPEAN AND UK TOUR

Hi guys !

I’d like today take a moment and remind everyone that American rock band Our Last Night has begun this week on European soil and if you haven’t, you HAVE to take a ticket and a chance to go and see them !

With no less than 6 EPs and 4 LPs, the band’s got a large selection of songs to offer and give us many reasons to mosh and jump !

I’ve been wanting to see them for YEARS but never got around to it cause they never came close to where I lived, and now’s the chance, so I’ll be attending the Toulouse show on the 17th !

In case you were wondering, you can find the dates below as to where to catch up with them (and tickets are getting hard to get as most dates are close to selling out so jump on the occasion quick !)

And take a listen below if you don’t already know them, here’s one of their latest song called Tongue Tied, and the amazing Logic cover (which is one of my favorite covers ever to be honest, it’s THAT good !)

MONDAY FEELING (Music Of the Week #6 )

Hey guys !

Autumn is finally here and with it, a bunch of new tunes, new music videos and hopefully, the one for you !

Let’s begin !

P!nk – Beautiful Trauma
First song into the week, is by P!nk.
Of course the first song outed in what seemed forever was gorgeous anthem What About Us, anthem to all the underdogs out there.
But what followed up really set the tone for the album. Title track Beautiful Trauma is all about loving someone so much that you lose yourself and find yourself in the process (and isn’t that what love is all about ?). If you don’t believe me, check her lyrics and see it by yourself, and tell me you’ve never identified to it.
This set out to be my favorite out of all 3 of her singles out promoting her album.
As always, pushing her voice to obtain those notes that’ll make you shiver, Pink took long enough to put those songs out, but they are oh so worth it. Check it for yourself below with what is one of my favorite songs by her yet (and look out for my album review that upcoming week).

Movements – Colorblind
I discovered Movements with this song, and to be honest, I’ll be looking out for their album to come out and will probably listen to it for a while once it is. Here, the band delivers a poignant song about feeling like you’re not enough with someone and having purposely messed up a relationship with someone that you were deeply in love with (and possibly the best one yet). I relate to this on a personal level and this song helped me see that I needed to make a change before I sing this song and mean the words. I don’t want to be colourblind anymore, but I do love that they sing about it.

Echosmith – Get Into My Car
Following their career since the beginning (and the amazing breakthrough of their single Cool Kids, AND a whole Warped Tour), I have to say that I’ve been wanting a new Echosmith album since as soon as the previous one got out.
Leaving behind their more pop acoustic sound behind to fully focus on a pop sound, I’ve been through many reviews regarding their new EP, and I have to say that I found one that perfectly fitted from AllMusic, saying “creating a blend that sounds like 1989-era Taylor Swift fronting the 2017 incarnations of PVRIS“. And I honestly couldn’t have said it better. First time I heard these songs, I thought to myself “this is totally something Taytay could have written and/or sung”. And if I’m saying this, you best believe this is the biggest compliment I could give.
Here with the dream-esque Get Into My Car, the band is gonna have you falling for them while singing “Get into my car, get into my life, Get into my heart, you know what I like, Can give me something that I don’t know how to live without“.
Well done guys, WELL DONE. It’s a 5*/5*  for me !

Broadside – I Love You I Love You It’s Disgusting
Victory Records band Broadside gives us a perfect rendition of another pop punk love song, I honestly love the title to such a pretty song. Genius. If you don’t feel a bit in love after hearing the ukulélé love ballad and the line “I’ll take care of your heart no matter where we are“, then you are heartless ! This is cute AF and I wish I’d have someone say that to me !

Macklemore – Good Old Days (feat Kesha)
Kesha is back for good and strongly this year.
After an amazing number one album in the charts, she’s now featured on one of the biggest rappers of those latest years.
Now solo, Macklemore’s album is, with no surprise, A HUGE BANGER. And when I saw the tracklist for the album, this song was the one I was looking forward to the most, and it didn’t disappoint me in any bit !
Singing about the old days around a campfire is exactly the scene you’d imagine for the reminiscing and for the song; Both combined and you’ve got pleasure for the ears and for the eyes !

Knuckle Puck – Want Me Around
So far so good. It’s a Home Run for Knuckle Puck who releases their last single before the album is officially out and what a song too ! Heartbreaking pop punk ballad will break your heart and make you feel the pain of not being wanted by someone. There again, somehow, I’ve related to that song on a personal level, so you can already guess that it’ll be one of my favorite on the new (highly anticipated and one of my already favorite of 2017) album !

Hope you like it and let me know on social medias which song did you like the most 😉

MUSIC OF THE WEEK #4

And because I couldn’t stay away from you for long and decided to be productive today, here are 5 songs that I’ve had on repeat all week end long and hoping you’ll have them stuck in your head too.

ZAYN – DUSK TILL DAWN (feat Sia)
When 1D were still a thing, I was at first a bit ashamed to be liking a boyband considering I’d always consider myself too tough for their music. Then, I caved in. And I shipped them. And I loved them. And I even took my little cousin see the concert movies in the theatre just so I wouldn’t go alone and I’d have an excuse to be there haha.
Anyway, that’s a whole other subject.
ZAYN.
Everybody was SHOOK when he up and left 1D, but honestly, I’m one of those that think that maybe it was for the best.
Topic isn’t to discuss the why and how and when here, but to talk about his artistry.
With his first album, Zayn asserted himself into rbn royalty and was successful in doing so.
Later on, let him be on two soundtracks of major blockbusters (wHo on the Ghostbusters soundtrack and a majestic duo on I Don’t Wanna Live Forever featuring none other than Taylor Swift for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack), add another little featuring, and you’ve got yourself Zayn’s next banger.
With lyric such as “You’ll never be alone, I’ll be with you from dusk till dawn” and a music video to make Hollywood blush, Zayn is coming with the next era of his career and I’m excited to look forward to it.
Here’s the video below !

SAM SMITH – TOO GOOD AT GOODBYES
It had been too long since we’d had any Sam Smith news, and I can shamelessly say that I had to hold back the tears when I was listening to the BBC Radio show the other morning and not only did Sam Smith appear there but also announced the single and released it the next day. And then I cried listening to it.
When his first album came out, I blasted it on repeat for MONTHS anytime I’d have a down time or I’d need to feel like someone was giving me a hug. And it worked !
Now he’s back, with a theme that only too much of us know, love, loss, and the combination of both.Especially with lyrics such as “I’m way too good at goodbyes” and “I’m never going to let you close to me, Even though you mean the most to me”, talking about being in a relationship that you know is doomed.
I’m really glad to have one more song in addition to his album and I can’t stress out enough how I’m expecting his album almost as much as the new Taytay one (so that’s to say a lot) !

KELLY CLARKSON – LOVE SO SOFT
So, another come back this week, is pop-soul goddess Kelly Clarkson.
I won’t say I’ve known her since her beginnings but I’ve been following her since the MTV days of Since U’ve Been Gone and ever since then, I was conquered.
Little did I know, when I was 13 that she had just written one of the biggest F**K YOU break-up song, and that it’d be so relevant to actually so many of my break-ups in the following years.
It’s scary how sometimes when you listen to a song when you’re young, you don’t really pay attention to everything or the lyrics or even the artistry behind everything, and then when you listen to it back when you’re older, it all makes sense somehow.
This is exactly how I felt the first time a jackass broke my heart and I had to get over it.
ANYWAY. After numerous albums, major hits that have since become anthems for the underdogs of this world and the broken-hearted, Kelly Clarkson is back with another album announcement but first and foremost, a new single, ode to love, called Love So Soft.
With a chorus sticking to you, going ” You gon’ love it if you try it, Got you hooked, now you’re caught up, Love so soft, so soft”, you won’t be able to resist following (and probably failing but who cares) into harmonizing with pop-soul goddess !

HALSEY – BAD AT LOVE
A year ago, I came across a tumblr post with lyrics to Ghost. Checked them out. Then checked the artist. Then checked her discography. Got conquered. And now I’m just mesmerized by her.
So it’s without a surprise that when her album came out this year, I bought it without even listening to it cause I knew I’d love it anyway. And I wasn’t disappointed.
Halsey here sings about the struggles of being yourself and even so far as sing about a relationship between two persons of the same sex in the form of Strangers featuring Fifth Harmony own Lauren Jauregui.
Summer’s passed, it’s still a banger, and I’m still rocking out to this album cause it’s a true masterpiece of pop ! And my song for the week by Halsey is Bad At Love. First because the music video came out a couple weeks ago and I love it, and second of all because it’s such a good song ! She basically sings about how I felt up until a few months ago !
There’s that thing where artists manage to sing exactly about how you feel… It touches you to your core. And Halsey is one of those rare singer that does.
If you haven’t yet, you should check out Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. Not only because I love it, but also because I’m pretty positive you’ll love it too !
Bonus: Halsey is also a fan of pop-punk, and has been seen fangirling about The Story So Far, so if that’s not a bonus point to like her for her music taste, you’re hopeless ! (jk, maybe, maybe not).

ARCHITECTS – DOOMSDAY
Last but not least, my ultimate favorite song for the week, Doomsday by Architects.
After last year’s tragic event of losing a member to cancer (RIP Tom), Architects pulled through and managed to still play the shows they were meant to. And this year, they’ve decided to bless us with the outing of a new song.
I was a bit scared at first, knowing Tom was the songwriter of the band. But why was I scared ?
You tend to forget that a band works as a whole, so, even if a link person is missing, the others come together to replace the missing one. And god knows Tom’s missed. But Architects HAS to go on, for the sake of the fans. And so, after multiple festivals and concerts (and an appearance on Neck Deep’s new album for Sam), they finally broke out of their silence and gave the people what they wanted.
This song’s got me feeling so many things that I don’t even know how to process it, and I’m honestly thrilling with every second of this song and what it does to me.
” What if I completely forget? What if I never accept? ‘Cos when you fade away Its like a brand new doomsday”
We haven’t accepted it yet, and we’ll never forget guys. But in the meantime, you’re doing a good job at remembering and touching us right in the feels !

Alright, Music Of The Week is done for now you guys !

Let me know what you liked, what you didn’t, or if you’ve got stuff for me to review, feature or just if you’ve got bands for me to discover !

Let me know !

Have a fun day filled with music !

All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell… is PVRIS

I remember the first time I went online and found through youtube and the Rise Records channel a new band then, who had just been signed.

PVRIS.

Curious of a band whose name is the capital of my birth country, I decided to check it, and on the first notes of the song ( St Patrick I remember it is), I immediately fell in love with them.
What attracted me was not only their sound, their lyrics, but also their aesthetic which weirdly makes me see life in black and white (both their albums have black and white covers) and a world of their own, mixed between Tim Burton movies, Edgar Allen Poe poetry and nowadays music.

TAYLOR SWIFT. IS. BACK…

And she’s coming for blood and ready to stop playing nice and actually own up to the reputation that people have built for her. Taylor will always be Taylor, but this time, she’s had enough of your bullshit and she’s ready to kick your ass if you don’t leave her alone (and I love dark Taylor ! *giggles like the first time I saw dark Willow in Buffy The Vampire Slayer*)

MUSIC OF THE WEEK #2

Hey guys !

As I’m still working my way through cool stuff to put on the blog very soon, you also have to know that I’m quite enjoying being on holiday and spending my days catching up on missed tv shows (binge watched The Crown on Netflix in 3 days), listening to music (lots of albums came out recently) and reading religiously one of my favorite book: Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone.

But that’s beyond the point.

I’m here to give you… *drum-rolls*

Update !

Hi everyone !

Sorry for the lack of news this month, it’s been quite crazy !

But I promise you, lots of new things in store music-wise, lots of excitement !

Also, know that there are lots to come, as I’ve decided it was maybe time to talk about things that matter to me, and not just music (although, a lot of what matters to me is connected or linked to music, so expect a bit of that too, still 😉 )

Hope you guys will still be there when everything unfolds !

In the meantime, here’s a cover song that I absolute am CRAZY of by yet another great band !

Here’s the Can’t Feel My Face cover for Punk Goes Pop 7 by The Amity Affliction ! Available on iTunes

FYI: this song is originally by The Weeknd, from his sophomore album Beauty Behind The Madness and is a song about one’s love for another. I’ve been so addicted to that song, it’s crazy. So when I say that this cover is getting me all pumped, it’s really an understatement ! Hope you enjoy it !
